슬픈영화는

언제나 날 울게 합니다.

 

He said he had to work

so I went to the show alone

그가 일을 해야 한다고 하기에

난 혼자서 영화를 보러 갔습니다.

 

They turned down the lights

and turned the projector on

극장 안의 불이 꺼지고

영사기가 켜져 돌아가기 시작했어요.

 

Just as the news of the world

started to begin

그리고 막 세계뉴스가

시작되었을 때 사랑하는 내 그이가

 

I saw my darling

and my best friend walking in

나의 가장 친한 친구와 같이

걸어 들어오는걸 보게 되었지요.

 

Though I was sitting there

they didn"t see

난 그 자리에 그대로 앉아 있었지만

 

그들은 날 알아보지 못했습니다.

 

So they sat right down

in front of me

그래서 그들은 내 바로 앞자리에

앉자던 거죠.

 

When he kissed her lips

I almost died

그가 그녀의 입술에 키스를 하는 순간

난 거의 호흡이 멈추어지는 줄 알았어요.

 

And in the middle

of the color cartoon

I started to cry

천연색 영화가

한창 상영이 되었을 때,

난 울기 시작했습니다.

So I got up

and slowly I walked on home

 

그래서 난 자리에서 일어나

극장을 나와 천천히 집을 향해 걸었지요.

 

And Mama

saw the tears

and said "What"s wrong"

집에 돌아오자 엄마는

내 눈에 눈물을 보고서

"무슨일이 있었느냐"고 물으셨습니다.

 

So to keep

from telling her a lie

I just said

"Sad movies make me cry"

그래서 난 엄마에게

거짓말시키지 앉을려고,

"슬픈 영화만 보면 눈물이 나요"
